An Easy Homemade Snack for Kids: Dairy Free Pumpkin Dip
This dairy free pumpkin dip served with apples is a great homemade snack for kids, toddlers, and grown ups too! It takes just a couple of minutes to whip up a batch, and I feel good about giving it to my kids.

When life gets busy (is it ever not with young kids?), it’s easy to get in the habit of doling out daily granola bars for snack time and calling it good.
So as I found myself buying box after box of granola bars at the grocery store, I decided I wanted to start giving my kids less processed foods and more nutrient-dense foods at snack time.
Join me as I up our whole foods snack game with this simple pumpkin dip recipe!
Dairy Free Pumpkin Dip Ingredients
I love Trader Joe’s Vegan Heavy Whipping Cream Alternative for this recipe (it’s great in coffee too!). I have not tried this recipe with regular dairy heavy whipping cream, but I’m sure it would also work.
Depending on the brand of canned pumpkin puree you use, you may need to add a little extra cream to make the dip nice and creamy. For example, Trader Joe’s pumpkin puree is already pretty creamy, but I have also bought the Target brand pumpkin puree, and it’s much thicker.
Also, if using canned pumpkin puree, make sure pumpkin is the only ingredient. Around Thanksgiving, you will often find “pumpkin pie” puree on the shelves, which has added sugars etc.
And while the combination of apples, cream, pumpkin, and cinnamon all make for a lovely naturally sweet snack, you can drizzle in some maple syrup if your kids need some extra motivation!
Make It An On The Go Snack For Kids
This is a surprisingly easy portable snack.

A little tuperware of pumpkin dip with a baggie or container of sliced apples makes this an easy kids snack to go!
More Ways To Eat This Pumpkin Dip
While apples and apple chips are undeniably the most tasty foods to eat with this dip, it also pairs well with these homemade apple oat bars or these healthy carrot muffins!
